The following brand could fit into a couple categories. Whether you voted for him or not, you have to admit that the Barack Obama brand had one of the most well-executed strategies in recent memory.

A forum used by the Obama campaign was Twitter which could be considered a huge breakout brand in 2008. It’s changed the way people receive information and has even impacted the reporting of the news.

In Memoriam: Poor Saturn. Even though the car company had a huge amount of evangelists, GM decided not to keep it focus on this portion of the portfolio. (This hasn’t been officially announced but it appears to be happening in the coming weeks.)
